I get so tired of these Atkins myths that I have decided to compile some of them, and, well blast them.

STUPID MYTH #1: Atkins Died of A Heart Attack
Atkins died from hitting his head on ice jogging to work one day. It was more of a freak accident. The man was a cardiologist- don't you think he would be monitering his heart? Keep in mind, that this is a cardiologist invented diet. He stuck with it as he did blood tests, EMG's, etc. Wouldn't he have changed it if he fould poor results?

STUPID MYTH #2: You Can't EVER Eat Fruit Again
On the Atkins diet, you can eat berries and eventually melons and more... you just want to stay away from high sugar fruits like pineapple.

STUPID MYTH #3: You Can't Have Carbs
In induction, the first stage of the diet, you ARE limited to twenty carbs a day but that is temporary.

STUPID MYTH #4: You Won't Lose Weight
This one tops it off. Do some googling on the internet, talk to people on the forum here or any low carb forum. How can anybody say that after looking at the studies. This myth isn't stupid, it is ignorrant and borderline insane.

STUPID MYTH #5: You Are Going To Die
Sorry to be so blunt, but you are going to die if you keep stuffing your face with bad carbohydrates, a lot sooner than you otherwise would.

STUPID MYTH #6: You Are Not Going to Have Energy
This actually is true in the beginning, before your body makes the switch into ketosis from carbs. Your body is changing the way it gets its energy, of course you will be tired at first. But ultimately this is false, because once your body makes the change your body will start using fat for energy after the carbohydrates are used up.

STUPID MYTH #7: You Won't Get the Proper Nutrients
I get my vitamin c from jalapenos or things like lemon juice, my calcium from cheese and cream and my potassium from almonds. I have no problem getting all my vitamins on this diet.

I believe Atkins, when done properly, can work wonders on any metabolism. It is after you start doing it for a while and losing weight that you can modify it to suit YOUR body.
